4. Develop fine motor skills through drawing and coloring.
**Materials Needed:**
- White drawing paper
- Black crayons or black watercolor paints with brushes
- Pencils
- Erasers
- Rulers
**Lesson Procedure:**
**Introduction (5 minutes):**
1. **Greeting and Warm-Up:** Begin with a friendly greeting and a brief warm-up activity such as a song or a simple finger exercise to get the students engaged.
2. **Introduction to Rectangles:** Show the students a rectangle shape. Explain that a rectangle has four sides: two long sides and two short sides.
**Teaching and Modeling (10 minutes):**
1. **Demonstrate Drawing a Rectangle:**
- Use a chalkboard/whiteboard or large drawing paper so everyone can see.
- Draw a large rectangle step by step, calling attention to the straight lines and corners.
- Explain as you draw: “First, we draw a long line, then a short line down, then another long line across, and finally a short line up to connect back to the starting point.”
**Guided Practice (10 minutes):**
1. **Students Draw Rectangles:** Hand out paper and pencils to each student.
- Guide the students through drawing their own rectangles. Ensure each child is following along and help those who need more assistance.
- Encourage the students to use a ruler if they are capable, to help them draw straight lines.
**Activity (15 minutes):**
1. **Coloring the Rectangle:**
- Once all students have drawn their rectangles, give them black crayons or set up a painting station with black watercolors and brushes.
- Show them how to color within the lines of the rectangle carefully.
- Walk around the classroom, offering help and encouragement.
**Conclusion (5 minutes):**
1. **Show and Tell:**
- Allow each student to display their drawing and celebrate their creativity. This builds confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
2. **Review and Praise:**
- Recap what was learned: identifying, drawing, and coloring a rectangle.
- Praise the students for their efforts and participation.
3. **Clean-Up:**
- Guide students to organize and clean up their workspace.
**Assessment:**
- Observe the students during the activity to ensure they are able to complete each step.
- Provide individual feedback and support as necessary.
**Extension Activity:**
- For students who finish early or require more challenge, introduce them to drawing and coloring rectangles of different sizes or creating a simple picture using rectangles.

**Note to Teachers:**
Encourage positive reinforcement throughout the lesson. Help students feel proud of their artwork regardless of the degree of perfection. The goal is to foster creativity, fine motor skills, and a love for artistic expression.
